Patio Furniture Cushions | Ideal Patio Seating

If there is one thing for sure, it is that patio furniture needs to be comfortable or we simply won’t end up using it. This is why you see those deteriorating white plastic chairs littered around. One reason is because those chairs are not as durable as their more contemporary and quality made counterparts. The other reason is that they are simply not appreciated because they are so inexpensive. Now, what if you had a quality made patio set that you didn’t want to have damaged? Now, you’d probably spend some extra time caring for the furniture itself and probably invest more in the cushions, too.

Those patio cushions could end up being one of the best investments you make in your outdoor or patio accessory purchases. Don’t think that you can just order some set of cheap cushions and everything will be cozy. You might end up spending hundreds of dollars on your patio chair cushions, but it will be worth every penny. If you’ve spent less than that on your entire set of patio furniture, then it isn’t advisable to invest so much in the cushions themselves.

What Types of Patio Furniture Cushions Are Available?

If you haven’t shopped for these items in a while, you might be surprised to find an entire array of patterns, colors, fabrics and styles. Deciding on the style you are looking for is the first thing you should do before making any purchasing decision. Browse around in your local home improvement stores, look at pictures in the fine home magazines and check out what is available online. Sometimes, what looks good on your computer screen comes out looking – or worse, feeling – much different once you sit on them.

While most manufacturers offer a warranty and return policy, it is still wise to ‘feel them out’. You might find that a thicker pad is just too large for your chairs. Depending upon the space between the chair seat and the bottom of the table, a plush cushion could just be too much. This is a good point to make in terms of the need to measure accurately. Measuring for your cushion dimensions will ensure that you get a good fit and have them last. Poor fitting patio chair cushions slide around and make sitting uncomfortable. This is the last thing you want in patio seating!

In terms of fabrics or material choices, you also have a wide selection there. One of the more popular materials is made by a company named Sunbrella™. They have pioneered a process where the fabric is dyed during the ‘wet stage’ of production. It yields a fabric that is resistant to the ultraviolet rays which tend to fade colors and patterns from your cushions sitting out in the sun. They are also water resistant and resist mildew growth. The colors and patterns available for cushions is almost as open as is your imagination. If you’re looking for some new patio cushions, now is the time to shop.
